VA Manager Thinks Veteran Suicide Is Funny … Here is Her INFURIATING Email

According to statistics by the Veterans Affairs organization, 22 veterans tragically commit suicide every single day. But according to Robin Paul, who manages the VA hospital in Indianapolis, veterans killing themselves is apparently pretty hilarious, as evidenced by a series of photos she emailed her co-workers.
Paul, who works at the Roudebush Veterans Affairs Medical Center and manages the wing for transitioning veterans known as the Seamless Transition Integrated Care (STICC) Clinic, sent out an email during the holiday season containing pictures of the "Elf on the Shelf" in various positions with the email subject line, "Naughty Elf in the STICC clinic," where she then proceeded to mercilessly mock the combat veterans under her care.
In one of the photographs, the Elf was staged committing suicide, depicted with an electrical cord around his neck along with the caption, "Caught in the act of suicidal behavior (trying to hang himself from an electrical cord)."

In another photo, the elf was pleading for his anxiety and panic medication with a Post-it note reading, "Out of XANAX — please help!" along with the caption, "Self-medicating for mental-health issues when a CNS would not give him his requested script."

The Indianapolis Star contacted the VA over the incident, and the hospital's public relation's department sent on Paul's behalf.
"I would like to sincerely apologize for the e-mail message and I take full responsibility for this poor judgment," the statement read. "I have put my heart and soul into my work with veterans for many years. I hold all veterans and military personnel in the highest regard and am deeply remorseful for any hurt this may have caused."
A spokeswoman for the hospital, Julie Webb, attempted to do damage control by adding, "The email is totally inappropriate and does not convey our commitment to veterans. We apologize to our veterans and take suicide and mental-health treatment seriously, striving to provide the highest quality."
